PET TALES

Over the years we have had many an exciting and sometimes exhausting experience in the care of dogs and cats!  All have been worthwhile and we wish to share with you some of the heart warming stories and some of the ones that make us proud as New Zealand breeders, that have remained in our memories over the years.

Keep coming back as we add more "tales of Pets By Air"!

KATIE, THE NEWFOUNDLAND

She is an older bitch and it was her last chance to have puppies, as she had missed previously.  Pets By Air sent her over to Australia to be mated and subsequently arranged her return through Customs and so on, back into New Zealand.  She was the last of her line for the Owner.  A much loved mother and puppies - it's times like this, even when we are tired out, that Pets By Air is so worthwhile!

Below are some photos of the proud "Mum", and the babies are just spectacular!

FRENCH BULLDOG AMBASSADORS!

The French bulldog puppies sent to show homes in the USA.  Such good ambassadors for New Zealand show dogs.

New Zealand's French bulldogs are such in demand in many different countries that it is difficult for this top Breeder to keep up with the supply to overseas!

RED TABBY CAT EMERGENCY

We handled a case of a Cat being sent to Brisbane in an emergency situation - an urgent kidney transplant was needed!  We managed to arrange with Air New Zealand to take it within hours as every minute counted!  At Pets By Air we took a while to recover, but the cat is doing well...

THE POMERANIAN CONNECTION

Two Pomeranians arrived in at 1a.m. in the morning.  The new Owner was unable to get the clearance done through Customs and through MAF as she lived up north 5 hours away!   After having done all the necessary work, we eventually got back to base at 3 a.m., exhausted, but happy!  All is well and the Pomeranians are safely "connected" with their new Owner.

BORDER COLLIE JITTERS!

The Border Collie was going to Denmark and we had to collect him from 2 hours out of Auckland - although he had been a show dog, he had not been transported before.  We decided to board him overnight at the Airport Pet Hotel to give him a break.  He arrived there early evening after MAF Vet checks.  The poor dog had never stayed away from home and stressed out terribly!  The Airport Pet Hotel Staff and Annette from Pets By Air, stayed with him until after midnight giving him homeopathic remedies to settle him down.  About 11p.m. Carrie and Christine from the Airport Pet Hotel got an old female dog they owned, who had grown up with Border Collies.  It was love at first site!  The two of them played on and off until the Border Collie departed the next day - VERY HAPPY and relaxed and on his merry way to Denmark!

PRETTY SCOTTISH TERRIER NEEDING MATE!

Then there was the case of the "older" Scottish Terrier urgently requiring a flight to Australia to be mated!  She had come into season without the breeder realising and time was desperately running short for this sweetie who had to be mated urgently, as this would be her last time!  We dropped everything for her and managed to arrange a flight within one day.  As miracles often happen, she arrived right on the day she needed to be mated.  RESULT: SUCCESS!!
